Midtown Water Meter Installation Will Take Another Week

A single lane of Piedmont Avenue will remain closed until next Friday so crews can safely install the large meter.

A section of a busy Midtown road will remain closed for another seven days so crews can continue working in the area, a city department announced Friday.

According to the Atlanta Department of Watershed Management, one right lane of Piedmont Avenue between 5th and 6th streets must be closed down until Feb. 27 so that crews can continue to install a large water meter at 785 Piedmont Ave. The work will be done between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day, the department said. Traffic control devices have been erected in the area to help drivers around the site.

The work began last Friday and was scheduled to end today, but delays have been encountered which have forced an extension of the project.

The department strongly suggests that you avoid Piedmont Avenue for the next week, if at all possible.
