The celebration will feature an evening with artist John C. Portman, Jr.

From the Museum of Design Atlanta

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) will host a celebration honoring architect, artist and visionary, John C. Portman, Jr. for his contributions to MODA during its early history. The evening will also highlight 25 exceptional Atlanta design achievements, solidifying Atlanta as an established design hub with an important voice in the international design community. Guests will enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and music by CoResonance String Quartet until 7:30 p.m. when Mr. Portman will be honored. The rankings of the 25 Design Achievements will be revealed exclusively to event attendees during the celebration. The Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) was founded as the Atlanta International Museum of Art and Design in 1989 with the support of two founding sponsors, The Portman Companies and the City of Atlanta’s Bureau of Cultural Affairs. The museum’s early exhibitions and educational programs focused on important contributions made to arts and culture in Atlanta by the increasingly diverse cultures moving into the region. In 2004, the Board of Directors changed the Museum’s name to The Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA), reflecting the fact that design had been a common thread in the institution’s most successful exhibitions. Tickets are $75.
