Nando’s PERi-PERi, makers of the most popular hot sauce from England to Australia, is introducing 40,000 Atlanta residents to the most famous sauce you’ve never heard of. Artfully designed packages of PERi-PERi sauce, bearing postmarks from Nando’s home in southern Africa, have been left on the doorknobs of 40,000 fortunate souls in Midtown, the Old Fourth Ward, Decatur and other Atlanta neighborhoods.
Nando’s PERi-PERi sauce is packed with flavor because it is made with sun-ripened lemons, onion, a dash of garlic and blended with our special ingredient – the African Bird’s Eye Chilli pepper. PERi-PERi (Swahili for ‘pepper pepper’) is the heart and soul of Nando’s PERi-PERi and the secret ingredient behind our restaurants worldwide. One bite, and you will be hooked.
“Some people say that this blend is addictive. We have no comment,” said Dominic McNeill, Global Marketing Director of the Nando’s Grocery Division.

Since last Tuesday, Nando’s surprise-and-delight teams have been stealthily leaving sauce bottles on doorknobs all around Atlanta. The packages also provide simple PERi-PERi recipes to try at dinnertime, just as the lucky recipients return home from work.
“I love the idea. I’d love to come home to a little gift like that,” said Justin Anthony, master chef behind Atlanta’s Cape Dutch, 10 Degrees South and Biltong Bar. Anthony cooks with PERi-PERi in his Atlanta kitchens and grew up within walking distance of a Nando’s PERi-PERi restaurant in his hometown of Johannesburg. “You can say I’m mildly obsessed. I used to eat Nando’s pretty much every day,” he added.

Nando’s PERi-PERi is now widely available in Atlanta, throughout Georgia and in over 10,000 of the nation’s biggest retailers including Safeway, Kroger, Fresh Market, Walmart and Publix.
