This library’s design provides a welcoming destination that responds to the unique characteristics of a large wooded site, drawing form and material inspiration from the adjacent area where industrial context meets smaller established neighborhoods. The entry plaza engages the intersection of Hollywood Road and Perry Boulevard with a transparent entry, sculpture and a landscaped courtyard area that provides outdoor seating. The large volume of the stack area houses the public spaces and prioritizes natural light with skylights and views to the surrounding natural area. The interior is open and inviting with a mix of vibrant color and warm wood surfaces. Unique spaces are provided for children, teens, business start-ups and all patrons. This library will replace service at the former Perry Homes and Bowen/Bankhead Libraries.
In November 2008, Fulton County voters passed the Library Bond Referendum which will greatly enhance all of the county’s libraries, and includes 8 new branch libraries and two expansion projects.
