Officer Shot In The Head Moved To Shepherd's Brain Rehab Unit
Doctors continue to be pleased with the progress of Matthew Cooper, who was shot in the line of duty earlier in September.

ATLANTA, GA -- Injured Covington, Ga., Police Officer Matthew Cooper, 34, was transferred Thursday from Shepherd Center’s intensive care unit to its brain injury rehabilitation program. Cooper sustained a brain injury when he was shot in the head in the line of duty on Sept. 3, 2018. His medical team continues to be pleased with his progress, and Cooper will now begin therapy under the guidance of a full team of medical and rehabilitation specialists.
Medical and rehabilitation teams at Shepherd Center typically include an attending physician, nurse, occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech language pathologist, recreation therapist, case manager, peer support specialist, dietitian and psychologist.
