The Midtown MARTA station was temporarily closed after a suspicious item was found on the train tracks, causing significant delays to the city’s mass transit infrastructure.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the item was found on the northbound track at approximately 9:00 a.m. Monday. Service was suspended at the station while the item was examined and removed. The AJC reported that a bus bridge was established between the North Avenue and Arts Center stations to get commuters around the problem area.
Rail service was restored at approximately 10:00 a.m. after MARTA authorities removed the item from the tracks. The item has not been identified, but MARTA officials told the AJC that it posed no threat.
