Power Mostly Restored After Major Atlanta Outage Friday Morning
Buckhead, Midtown and Druid Hills were most affected by a blown transformer and a downed tree over power lines.
ATLANTA, GA — Several thousand people were without power Friday morning in the Buckhead, Midtown and Druid Hills communities.
As of 12:30 pm, Georgia Power said most of its customers have had their power restored.
At 7:30 am, the utility said 13,000 outages had been reported after a transformer near Piedmont Park caught on fire.

About an hour later, Georgia Power said a downed tree in Buckhead resulted in more than 3,000 outages.

The company estimated a complete repair time of around 2 pm for the remaining impacted areas.
