Update: City Says Rainbow at Intersection Must Fade Away
The crosswalks at 10th and Piedmont have been painted to celebrate the Atlanta Pride Festival.

City Hall is standing by its decision on a set of crosswalks in Midtown that have been painted in rainbow colors to commemorate the Atlanta Pride Festival. The rainbow colors will be temporary, not permanent, according to a media report.
The crosswalks are at the intersection of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue, considered the hub of Atlanta’s LGBT community. Robert Sepulveda, president of The Atlanta Rainbow Crosswalks, and other festival organizers have called for the project to remain permanently.
But the city, citing safety concerns and state regulations, says the rainbow colors must be removed by Friday, Oct. 16, AJC.com reported. The Atlanta Pride Festival starts today and concludes on Monday, Oct. 19.
