1. $10M settlement ends decade-long case over Yale student's Milton death (fox5atlanta.com) — Milton has agreed to pay $10 million and name a nearby bridge after Joshua Chang, resolving a nearly decade-long legal fight over the 2016 crash that killed the Yale student on Batesville Road. The settlement, partly covered by an insurance pool, follows a jury verdict finding the city responsible for a hazardous roadside planter and a Georgia Supreme Court ruling that drew attention from cities statewide.
   

2. Milton opens national community survey to residents (appenmedia.com) — Milton residents can now take the city’s National Community Survey through Sept. 16, adding their voices on local government, services, and overall quality of life. About 4,000 households received mailed invitations, and an open online version will be analyzed separately to give officials broader insight into what people think about living in Milton.

What local law says (fox5atlanta.com) — If you’re thinking about deer hunting in Milton, you cannot do it in any city park or greenspace, but you may hunt on private property with the owner’s explicit permission. City officials say the rules are meant to protect safety and property rights, and they’re directing residents to state-approved hunting areas and Georgia DNR officers for further guidance or to report illegal activity.

US Equestrian Announces U.S. Jumping Junior and Young Rider Teams for 2026 FEI Youth Jumping Nations Cup Final Kronenberg (chronofhorse.com) — A young equestrian from Milton, Isabelle Ehman, has been named to the U.S. Jumping Young Rider Team heading to the 2026 FEI Youth Jumping Nations Cup Final in the Netherlands. She’ll compete alongside four other riders in 1.45-meter classes, while a separate Junior Team represents the U.S. in 1.40-meter competition during the September 9–13 event.
