Police Officer Charged In Connection With Norcross Teen's Death

Police are investigating Susana Morales' cause of death. The teen girl's remains were found on Feb.6.

NORCROSS, GA — A Doraville police officer was arrested in connection with the death of a 16-year-old Norcross girl, Gwinnett County Police said Monday evening.

Miles Bryant, 22, of Norcross, is charged on suspicion of concealing the death of another and false report of a crime in connection with the death of Susana Morales.

The remains of Morales were found Feb. 6 in the woods along Highway 316 near Drowning Creek and the Barrow County line. Police said Morales had been missing since July 26, 2022.

The cause and manner of her death are being investigated.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported a warrant application for Bryant shows he “'lives in close proximity to victim and dumped her naked body in the woods.'"

Doraville city officials said in a statement they were notified Monday afternoon that warrants were being served on Bryant "in connection with the disappearance and murder of Susana Morales."

Police have not revealed if Morales was murdered.

"We do not have a cause of death for Susana Morales. The Gwinnett Medical Examiners office will provide a determination for cause of death," police told Patch.

Doraville officials said Bryant is now considered a former police officer.

"The City of Doraville and its police department are fully cooperating with the Gwinnett Police Department in its investigation of Mr. Bryant. Our prayers rest with the family and friends of Susana Morales and everyone else affected by this tragedy," city officials said in the statement.

Bryant is being held at the Gwinnett Detention Center without bond, police said.
