Murder Suspect Sought in Apartment Shooting

NORCROSS, GA — Gwinnett County Police has identified the suspect in a fatal shooting Feb. 21.

Winston Sylvester, 31, is wanted for felony murder and aggravated assault. There is a $2,000 reward in the case.

The victim was shot at the Indian Trail Apartments in Norcross on a Sunday night. The victim was identified as 43-year-old Vernie Burroughs.

There were several 911 calls immediately following the shooting, but police told the media at the time that there were no direct witnesses or credible leads.

Police warn Sylvester has ties to the Atlanta area and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to an AJC report.
