Norcross Man Charged With Murder In Fatal Indian Trail Shooting

One man was killed and a second man injured in the April shooting.

NORCROSS, GA — A 22-year-old Norcross man is facing murder and aggravated assault charges in connection with the shooting death of a Lawrenceville man in April, Gwinnett County Police said Tuesday.

Jerrett Mitchell, 22, of Lawrenceville, was found shot to death around 6 p.m., April 28, in the doorway of an Indian Trail Road restaurant. A second man injured in the shooting had injuries that were not life threatening.

Police said Xavier Jones has been arrested in the case and is being held in the Cobb County Jail on unrelated charges.

Jones was charged on suspicion of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes.

Police have not said what led to the shooting.
