Police ID 'Freedom Fighter Bandit': Reports
She's on the loose after recruiting teens, robbing four banks in Metro Atlanta, say Douglas County police.
ATLANTA, GA — Authorities have identified a woman who they say robbed four banks recently in the Atlanta area, according to media reports. Her name is Nilsa Marie Urena, and police say that she recruited two teenagers to rob two of the banks, WSB-TV Channel 2 Action News reported Wednesday.
The FBI has dubbed the woman the "Freedom Fighter Bandit" because she claims to be stealing in the name of a social cause. Urena, 25, is at large; police in Douglas County told Channel 2 that she had a plane ticket for a flight to Panama, but did not use it.
The police in Douglas County also have arrested two teens accused of helping to rob at least two of the banks, Channel 2 reported. Urena allegedly recruited the juveniles, whose names were not released.

Urena is described by police as about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds, Channel 2 reported. A black woman, she has a slender build and long, black hair, and wore dark sunglasses and an all-black outfit during the robberies, say police. She also was seen carying a dark-colored messenger bag.

Urena has been charged with robbery for the Nov. 3 heist at the Bank of the Ozarks in Douglasville. Caught on surveillance cameras, a woman and a man entered the bank at 9001 Hospital Drive, walked up to the teller counter and said they had a bomb they would detonate if they weren't given money, according to the FBI.
After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, they left. The FBI says on the same day, the same woman robbed Georgia's Own Credit Union at 2437 Loganville Highway in Grayson.
Those robberies followed a similar pattern to heists reported on Oct. 30, the FBI said. On that morning, the same woman attempted to rob a Wells Fargo branch at 6063 Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain, but left the bank without any money.
About an hour later, she walked into Associated Credit Union, at 5032 Old Grant Road in Ellenwood and, again, demanded money with a note. Authorities say she threatened to have an explosive advice this time, as well. She was given an undisclosed amount of money and left.
Anyone with information on these robberies or Urena's whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta at 404-577-8477, text information to 274637 or visit crimestoppersatlanta.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
