Report: Dead Black Bear Found Near I-85

Black bear sightings in the northern metro Atlanta, including the Norcross area, have been frequent in recent weeks, but the latest update casts a somber tone.

WSB-TV is reporting a black bear was found dead on the side of the interstate Friday morning. The bear was apparently found near Steve Reynolds Boulevard, the TV station said.

There has been no official word on such a finding from authorities, but the TV station spoke to a woman who sent in photos of the dead bear, but declined to be interview. She said she found the bear on the north side of the interstate.

It’s unclear if the bear is one connected to two sightings this week in the Norcross area, and elsewhere to the west previously.

Norcross Police reported a possible bear sighting near downtown on Tuesday. Another sighting was reported Thursday near Beaver Ruin Road.

Channel 2 reported the bear is believed to be around 200 pounds.
