Second Suspect Arrested in Deadly Norcross Hit-And-Run

Two different vehicles hit a female victim on South Norcross Tucker Road then drove off, police say.

NORCROSS, GA — Police have arrested a second suspect in a deadly Norcross hit-and-run, saying that two separate vehicles hit the victim then drove off.

Floridalma Godinez-Chavez, 47, of Norcross, died after being hit on South Norcross Tucker Road Sunday, August 7, at about 9:30 p.m.

Last week, Carlos Hernandez-Tecata, 44, of Lilburn, was charged with driving without a license, felony hit and run and felony vehicular homicide in the incident.

On Wednesday, Gwinnett County Police said they learned that Hernandez-Tecata was struck by two different vehicles.

Richard Grant, 52, of Norcross, was arrested and charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, hit and run, driving with a suspended license and an outstanding warrant not related to the incident.

He was booked into Gwinnett County Jail on Friday.

According to police, Grant was test driving a GMC truck that struck the victim after she had already been hit by the first vehicle.

The truck was located with its owner and evidence found under the vehicle confirmed the incident, police said in a news release.
