Single-Precinct Runoff Election Slated For Gwinnett County

A pair of Republicans are vying to face incumbent Rep. Scott Holcomb, a Democrat, in November.

NORCROSS, GA -- A Republican face-off for a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives is Gwinnett County's lone runoff election.

The election will be held July 26, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. to let some Norcross Republicans choose between candidates Lane Flynn and Jim Duffie.

Flynn finished first, but neither won the required 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff in the May 24 primary.

The winner of the runoff will face incumbent Democratic Rep. Scott Holcomb in November.

Only voters who are registered at Precinct 38 -- Stripling Elementary School in Norcross -- are eligible to vote in the runoff.

The majority of the House district is in DeKalb County.

Only voters who voted a Republican or nonpartisan ballot at that precinct in the primary, or who did not vote at all during the primaries, may vote in the runoff.

Voters eligible to cast a ballot in this runoff election may vote early through July 22 at the Voter Registrations and Elections Office, located at 455 Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville, from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. There is no Saturday voting for this election.
