NORCROSS, GA — After more than a month on the run, the suspect in a deadly gas station shooting in Norcross was arrested on Thursday.

Gwinnett County Sheriff's deputies arrested Nickolas Young, 19, at a home off of Collins Hill Road on Thursday morning.

Investigators believe Young is the man who shot and killed Vitali Mialik, 34, of Suwanee, last month at the Valero gas station at 1795 Beaver Ruin Road.

Young has been charged with murder and aggravated assault. After an interview at Gwinnett County Police headquarters he was transported to Gwinnett County Jail and booked shortly after 2 p.m.

Police say Mialik had gone into the store at about 11:13 p.m. when a vehicle carrying two other men arrived. They also went inside the store and one of the men made a purchase.

As the two men left and were beginning to drive away, they got into a verbal argument with Mialik, who was standing in the parking lot. The argument escalated and the driver pulled an assault rifle from the vehicle and shot Mialik, according to police.

Officers arrived to find him on the ground in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound. Mialik was later pronounced dead at the scene.

"It is our hope that the family of Vitali Mialik can rest a little easier knowing that this murder suspect has been captured," said Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Michele Pihera. "Our thoughts are with them as they go through their grieving process."
