When you look at the career of Davis, you can see why this may calm the nerves of many that were wondering what will happen to the future of APS. His background included positions at Alliant Energy (Chairman of the Board), WPL Holdings (President and CEO), and the Board of Directors of BP Industries. He also rose through the ranks at Wisconsin Power and Light Company, starting as Vice President of Finance and ending as CEO and President.

From an education angle, he served as a member of the University Of Wisconsin System Board Of Regents, the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University, and the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago.

When I look at his resume, it makes me giddy with excitement. In Corporate America, you have to put petty problems aside and move forward to thrive. Exactly what APS needs.

From a real estate perspective, parents are currently looking for homes to ensure that their children will start the year in their new school. With everything in flux at APS, some parents are hesitant to move their children into the school district. This should ease some of those concerns; however, the proof is in the pudding. We still have no superintendent (although they have narrowed the search to three women from outside Georgia), and have to pull out of the current accreditation situation we are in. This situation has fared well for unincorporated DeKalb, which has low taxes, and good schools such as Lakeside High School. I have taken to couples around this week that specifically recommended DeKalb schools.  If you are looking to sell your home in unincorporated DeKalb, make sure that you have emphasis on your taxes in your advertising, and, if applicable, rated schools that children would attend.
