Three catalytic converters stolen from Nationwide Discount Muffler & Brake

Unknown suspects burglarized Nationwide Discount Muffler & Brake at 1694 Scott Blvd. on August 18, taking three catalytic converters, DeKalb County police said.

The catalytic converters are valued at about $1,200 total and were taken from cars parked behind the shop. The suspects also tried to saw through security bars on the shop’s rear window and caused damage to a driveway chain and lock.

The theft was not discovered until the next morning, when the shop owner arrived to open up for the day. While the top section of the building does have an alarm system, the lower section does not, and that is where the suspects were trying to enter.

There were no witnesses or security monitors.

Camera and laptop taken from Family Dentistry

A camera and laptop computer were discovered missing from Dr. Jonathan Dubin’s Family Dentistry office at 2970 Clairmont Road on August 23, police said.

Dubin told police he was unable to find his camera and laptop inside his office, but that it was hard to determine when the items were stolen since they are both stored in the office and were used about a week ago.

There were no signs of forced entry.

Chevy Silverado stolen on Shallowford Road

A red 1991 Chevrolet Silverado truck was stolen on the 2700 block of Shallowford Road on August 20, police said.

The victim told police her truck was stolen between midnight and 7:30 a.m. and that this was the second time it had been taken from the same location.

The victim said she did not see who took the vehicle, but she did provide the tag number and vehicle information number to police.

Nissan Murano carjacked on Buford Highway

A woman was carjacked at gunpoint and her silver 2004 Nissan Murano was taken at the 4200 block of Buford Highway on August 19, police said.

The victim told police that she was making a turn off Buford Highway when two suspects stepped in front of her vehicle, pointed guns at her and told her to get out of her car. They then drove off toward I-85. The car also contained the victim’s purse, which held a cell phone, a debit card and a cell phone.

The victim was unable to provide the tag number or vehicle identification number for officers.

The two suspects are described as Hispanic males. One is 5 foot 7 and 165 pounds with a shaved head, last seen wearing all black clothing. The other is 5 foot 6 and 160 pounds with a shaved head, also last seen wearing all black.

Indecent exposure at Northlake public library

A man using the restroom at the Northlake public library, 3772 Lavista Road, noticed another man engaging in an indecent act in a nearby stall on August 23, police said.

The complainant said he was in the restroom and noticed the other man, whom he described only as wearing red and white shoes, through the reflection in the tile floor. By the time the police officer arrived at 5 p.m., the man was gone.
