Emory Phi Delta Theta Alumnus Inducted into 2016 Hall of Fame
Former SunTrust CEO and Emory alum James B. Williams is scheduled to be inducted into the Phi Delta Theta Georgia Alumni Hall of Fame.

The Phi Delta Theta alumni clubs (http://georgiaphidelts.weebly.com/ ) and undergraduate chapters throughout Georgia have announced the 2016 Phi Delta Theta Georgia Alumni Hall of Fame Inductees. Among the inductees is Emory alumnus, James B. Williams (Emory ’52).
Williams, who is a retired CEO of SunTrust Banks also served as a director of The Coca-Cola Company and chaired the board of Emory University’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center for more than 20 years. He will be recognized throughout the month at various Founders Day celebrations across the state. These events will be hosted by undergraduate chapters at University of Georgia, Mercer University, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, and the Atlanta, Macon and Savannah alumni clubs.
“Phi Delts have been a vital part of Georgia’s history since establishing the Oglethorpe College chapter in 1871. Among its ranks you find governors, college presidents, soldiers, clergy, actors, business owners, CEOs and much more,” said Richard T. Orr, Phi Delta Theta Province President. “The Hall of Fame is a way to appreciate these men for their many accomplishments.”

Also being inducted are U.S. District Court judge William A. Bootle, (Mercer ‘21), Georgia Governor George D. Busbee (UGA ‘48), Fuller E. Callaway, Jr. (Georgia Tech ‘24), Managing Director, Brunner Inc. and Phi Delta Theta General Council President Rich Fabritius, (Kent State ‘94), G.I. Bill co-author Rufus C. Harris (Mercer ‘15), USB Senior Vice President Michael R. Sanders (Georgia Southern ‘78), Actor Otis B. “Sonny” Shroyer (UGA ‘57), Summit Partners co-founder Edward Stamps, IV (Georgia Tech ‘63), H. Stockton Atlanta founder Hamilton Stockton, Jr. (UGA ‘51), Capricorn Records co-founder Alan Walden (Mercer University 2014), and noted amateur golfer, Atlanta businessman, and civic leader Charles R. Yates (Georgia Tech ’32).
Established in 2015, the Hall of Fame selection committee includes the current presidents from each of the undergraduate and alumni chapters. Past inductees include Sam Nunn (Georgia Tech ‘57), William “Billy” Porter Payne (UGA ‘66), Jean Mori (Georgia Tech ‘55), and Budge Huskey (Mercer ‘78).
