Emory Student Robbed in Briarcliff Home Invasion

The robbery at the Park at Briarcliff apartment complex occurred Tuesday afternoon.

An Emory University student was robbed Tuesday afternoon when he opened his front door for two men who rushed into his apartment and forced him in a closet, DeKalb County police said.

The 19-year-old student was in his apartment in the 1400 block of Druid Valley Drive when he heard knocking at his door at about 5:30pm, the police report said. Without checking the peephole, he opened the door and two suspects rushed in and turned the victim around so his back was to them.

"Turn around, go to the back and lay down," one suspect said.

He asked the student if he had money or valuables, and the student told him he hid his rent money on a book shelf by the kitchen behind some cook books. A suspect took the victim's cell phone and tossed it in the bathroom toilet. The suspects snatched the rent money – $600 in cash – and left through the front door.

No description of the suspects was provided in the police report.
