Exploring Transpersonal Psychology

Do any of the following names ring a bell? William James, Carl Jung, Abraham Maslow, Stanislav Grof, Charles Tart, or Ken Wilber? All are associated with the contemporary intellectual and spiritual movement known as Transpersonal Psychology, which is a study of humanity’s highest potential, and with the recognition, understanding, and realization of unitive, spiritual, and transcendent states of consciousness. The text for the course will be Paths Beyond Ego: The Transpersonal Vision, edited by Roger Walsh and Frances Vaughan, which will be available in the UUCA Bookstore. This course anticipates Rev. David’s sermon on “Transpersonal Thought,” scheduled for June 3.

Rev. Anthony David is in his fifth year as Senior Minister at UUCA.  He received his Masters of Divinity from Meadville Lombard Theological School in 2003. Before entering the ministry, he taught philosophy for eight years at Blinn College in Texas.
