All are welcome to join in to explore the questions, “What are the relationships between the living and the dead?” and “Who are our ancestors and what are the practices through which we relate to them?”
Donna Mote, PhD, Visiting Assistant Professor of Asian Religions at Sewanee, will present some of her research on Shingleroof Camp Meeting in Henry County, Georgia, as it relates to these questions and will screen a few of the short films on ancestor-venerating practices at Shingleroof that are part of her Emory doctoral dissertation.
The lecture and lunch will be held in the Meeting Room; the cost is $10. Please RSVP before Thursday, July 12 by calling the church office at (404) 634-3336.
