Movies at St. Bart's

6/3:  The Tree of Life.  PG-13.  139 minutes.  Stars Sean Penn, Brad Pitt, and Jessica Chastain. Terence Malick's 2011 film chronicles the origins and meaning of life by way of a middle-aged man's childhood memories of his family living in 1950s Texas, interspersed with imagery of the origins of the universe and the inception of life on Earth.  Parishioner and seminary professor Carol Newsom recently used the film in her class on Job and will lead the reflections on this movie.  Malick’s Tree of Life, engages the book of Job in fascinating ways.

6/17:  Clara's Heart.  PG-13.  108 minutes.  This 1988 movie stars Neil Patrick Harris (David) and Whoopi Goldberg (Clara).  David is a teenager whose parents are in a deteriorating marriage after their infant daughter dies. Clara is a chambermaid at a Jamaican resort who's hired to be a housekeeper.  Beverley Elliott will present the movie and reflections, exploring the power of relationship and listening.
