In continued commitment to the unfinished work of building social equality in personal lives and the wider world, you will read stories by students who explored their attitudes and actions around race, gender and class. Class participants will then tell or write their own stories, creating a clearinghouse while leaving confidentiality and control in the hands of the storytellers. Through examining everyday situations, you will introduce historical and institutional contexts that reveal the social and economic, as well as emotional and spiritual, costs of doing nothing. Sharing your own stories will help explore strategies for making an “existential leap” in the direction of social solidarity, stimulate conversation about best practices and affirm your values in tangible ways.
