ATLANTA, GA -- An online petition is being circulated in support of sidewalks near the Oak Grove community along Lavista Road.
“Children who live in the Oak Grove community along LaVista Road don’t have safe sidewalk passage to get to their friends in other Oak Grove neighborhoods,” the petition says. “Additionally, there is no safe passage for anyone to get to the stores and restaurants which requires many residents to drive, creating greater congestion in an already crowded corridor, especially on a Friday and Saturday evening.”

The DeKalb County commission has allocated $200,000 to fill in the sidewalk gaps along LaVista from Oak Grove to Pangborn, according to the petition. “However, they need the Georgia Department of Transportation to handle the drainage and other requirements.”
