Back to school is just a weekend away for students. With three days to go, it's time to pack up the swimsuits and stock up on notebooks. Construction continues on the new additions to the school, which will include 25 additional classrooms, a fine arts center, technology upgrades and other space expansions. Yet throughout the construction, students will still have to learn in the building. A couple dozen students, faculty and parents have taken it upon themselves to get the school in back to school shape. Volunteers organized packed up library books and helped sort through boxes that had been put away for the summer during construction. Plenty still remains to be sorted and volunteers were scheduled to work throughout the weekend. Want to help today? Show up between 1pm and 7pm at Lakeside High School, 3801 Briarcliff Road NE. Students will receive volunteer service hours if needed.
