Rash of Robberies Hits Briarcliff Area

There has been a recent rash of robberies in the Briarcliff area.

Burglary at The Avenues apartments
A resident of , 2515 Northeast Expressway, was burglarized on Aug. 30, DeKalb County Police said.

The victim said she left her apartment at 6pm to get her tire fixed. When she returned at 6:25pm, her apartment had been burglarized. Items missing included a TV, DVD player, laptop and a friend’s laptop. The victim had locked the door before leaving and saw no signs of forced entry.

A neighbor reported he saw a black woman, about 5 feet 8 inches and medium set, leaving the apartment with the TV and other items, making two trips to put them in her small beige SUV. The victim said she didn’t know anyone who matches that description or car. Nothing further.

Break-in attempt on Plymouth Colony Drive
A man attempted to break into a house on the 2000 block of Plymouth Colony Drive on Aug. 27, police said.

The victim reported that he heard a noise coming from the ground level of his house at about 3am while the rest of his family was sleeping. He went downstairs to look and saw who he described as a 6 foot tall white male in the house. He fled on foot. The victim said nothing was taken and no one was hurt. He added that the man had entered through a kitchen window he had left open.

Burglary at Valley Oaks Apartments
A resident was burglarized on Aug. 30, police said.

The victim, who lives alone, said he came home to his 2408 Johnson Road apartment complex from work at about midnight and noticed his window had been opened. Items missing included a TV, an Xbox with three games, a microwave, a set of knives, ten pairs of Nike shoes and heirloom pieces of silver.

There is no information about suspects.

Break-in on Woodacres Drive
A storage closet was broken into and items were stolen from a house in the 2000 block of Woodacres Drive on Aug. 30, police said.

The victim said she heard a noise outside her house at about 9pm and went to her carport to see her storage closet was broken into and a black toolbox was missing. She heard a noise in her backyard and went to investigate, seeing a shadow run towards the creek, but she could not further describe the subject.
