I love working for Kids Enabled except for one thing – there are so many people who have been helped by our resources that I will never meet. Families who have similar trials and journeys to mine – we have so much in common – but we are only connected through the internet. I am gratified knowing that people gain so much knowledge from our editorial and help their children with our resources but there is a little piece missing for me. I miss that face-to-face interaction. I love the light bulb moments when you realize that you are on the same path and have survived many of the same struggles.
We do our best to get “out there” and attend events where many of you are. We even host our own resource fair each January so that we can bring everyone together. That once-a-year just isn’t enough anymore so we are doing something about it. You may not have heard yet but Kids Enabled is hosting a festival next month to bring you the resources you need for the 2nd time this year – and we are adding in food trucks! It is called Food for Thought and I personally cannot wait to see each of you there.
October 6 from 1 until 4 at St. James UMC – register to be there and you can win $250 toward a therapy or camp of your choice – http://www.kidsenabled.org/events.

Did I mention that there will be speakers on topics that interest you – IEP/504 debriefing, executive functioning, social skills, dyslexia, ADHD, special needs law, brain health, music therapy and much more – for free? Did I tell you that there will be a kids’ stage with performances in drama music and more? It is an opportunity to connect with resources for your children and enjoy a Sunday with a great community. And, let’s not forget the food trucks…
More information to come in the next few weeks, for now just register to be there at http://www.kidsenabled.org/events.. See you at the festival!
