St. Pius Girls Rout Troup, Advance to the Elite 8
No. 1 seed Lady Golden Lions overcome sluggish start, face Dalton in next round
Despite an uncharacteristically sluggish start, during which it trailed 9-5 at the end of the first quarter, No. 1 seed regrouped and closed out the game strong, defeating No. 3 seed Troup 41-26 Tuesday to advance to the Elite 8 in the Class AAA Girls State Tournament.
Junior power forward Anna O’Donnell, who dropped 11 points in the winning effort, gave her squad a much-needed spark in the paint to help clinch victory.
St. Pius faces Dalton in the Elite 8 in a contest of No. 1 seeds Saturday afternoon at the Northwest Georgia Trade & Convention Center at 4 p.m.
