UPDATE: Suspect In Police Shooting Remains Critical

The incident occurred late Thursday night at Bryton Hill Apartments.

The suspect in Thursday night's officer-involved shooting is in critical condition, according to DeKalb County police.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution had reported earlier Friday morning that the suspect had died.

Police spokesperson Mekka Parish told Patch Friday morning that officers responded to a domestic dispute around 10:30pm Thursday night at on Skyland Drive.

"Once inside the apartment the subject appeared with a weapon initially pointed at his head," Parish said. "The subject subsequently pointed the weapon at officers, and an officer discharged his weapon striking the subject multiple times."

Parish also said that, as a matter of procedure, the officer has been placed on administrative leave.

The name of the victim and the officer has not been released.

Fox5Atlanta reported that the incident involved a man and his girlfriend having an argument at the Brookhaven apartment complex.
