NE Health District Adds Five COVID-19 Deaths and 160 Cases

The Northeast Health District added five deaths attributed to COVID-19 with the release of the Department of Public Health’s Daily Status Report on Thursday. It was the 14th consecutive day in which the Daily Status Report listed a death from the disease in the District.

Three of the five added deaths were in Jackson County: a 48-year-old male with a chronic condition, a 76-year-old female without a known chronic condition, and a male aged 90 plus with a chronic condition.

The other two deaths were in Walton County: a 53-year-old male with a chronic condition and an 87-year-old female without a chronic condition.

The Department of Public Health also removed the death of a 64-year-old female with a chronic condition from Barrow County listed on Wednesday.

The seven-day rolling average based on the net total of four added deaths was 2.7, the same as on Wednesday.

The Department of Community Health, in its Thursday Long-Term Care Facility Report, listed a COVID-19 death at the University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Athens-Clarke County, the sixth death at the nursing home.

The Department of Public Health Daily Status Report listed 160 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, and the seven-day rolling average of added cases increased to 130.1 from 128.7. The seven-day rolling average has increased each of the last four days.

Each of the 10 counties in the Northeast Health District added at least one case, with Oconee County adding 11 confirmed cases and Clarke County adding 63.

The Georgia Hospital Association and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency, as of 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, reported 118 COVID-19 patients at area hospitals, up from 116 on Wednesday, 61 ICU beds in use, down from 62 on Wednesday, and 28 adult ventilators in use, down from 30 on Wednesday.
