NE Health District Adds Two COVID Deaths, One In Oconee; 64 Cases

Molecular test positivity for Oconee County stands at 6.6 percent. In Clarke, it is 5.5 percent.

The Northeast Health District added 64 confirmed COVID-19 cases and two deaths from the disease with release of state health reports on Monday. One of the deaths was at a personal care home in Oconee County.

The Department of Community Health Long-Term Care Facility Report on Monday listed a death at Magnolia Estates of Oconee, 1641 Virgil Langford Road, south of SR 316. The new death brings to four the number attributed to COVID-19 at the home, which currently has 23 residents.

The Department of Public Health also listed a death on Monday in its Daily Status Report of a 70-year-old Walton County female with a chronic condition.

Monday’s are light reporting days, and Elbert and Morgan counties did not add any confirmed COVID-19 cases based on molecular tests. Oconee County added only one case, and Clarke County added 10. In both counties, the seven-day rolling average of added cases declined.

The positivity rate for molecular tests in Oconee County on Friday, where 17 tests were recorded, was 5.9 percent, while in Clarke County, where 159 test were recorded, it was 4.4 percent.

The Northeast Health District on Monday added a net increase of only four COVID-19 confirmations based on antigen tests. Clarke County had four cases previously reported removed, and Oconee County did not add any cases.

The Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) and the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) reported on Monday that the number of COVID-19 patients at area hospitals (76) was the same as the day before, that the number of ICU beds in use (59) increased by one from the day before, and that the number of adult ventilators in use (31) decreased by 10 from the day before.
