172,621 and Counting: Georgia's Largest School System Surpasses Enrollment Forecast

Seven Gwinnett high schools have more than 3,000 students, including Mill Creek, Norcross with 3,700 each.

The state’s largest school system is getting bigger every week.

Enrollment in Gwinnett County Public Schools has grown by more than 7,000 students since the first day of classes on Aug. 6, the school system announced.

The district counted 172,621 students on Aug, 26, an increase of 7,103 since the first count three weeks ago. Gwinnett is currently 238 students over its post-Labor Day forecast of 172,383.

There are now seven Gwinnett County high schools with enrollments of more than 3,000 students, according to the Aug. 26 count. The final count is Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Mill Creek High School is the system’s largest school with 3,792 students, followed closely by Norcross High with 3,740.

Others with more than 3,000: Meadowcreek (3,515), Berkmar (3,479), Brookwood (3,422), Peachtree Ridge (3,203) and Collins Hill (3,129).

Four middle schools have enrollments over 2,000: Creekland (2,162), North Gwinnett (2,136), Duluth (2,023) and Trickum (2,011). Nesbit (2,136) is the only elementary school with more than 2,000.
