ALDI Opens in Peachtree Corners

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA — A long-awaited branch of the ALDI discount grocery store chain is now open in Peachtree Corners.

On Thursday, the store, located in the Peachtree Marketplace shopping center on Peachtree Parkway, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening.

More than 50 shoppers lined up at 9 a.m. to be among the first to sample the store's wares.

The 17,000 square-foot store is one of ALDI's newest designs, offering expanded fresh produce, dairy, bakery and meat sections as well as gluten-free and organic items.

Then new store design features open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally friendly building materials, such as energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting.

Representatives from the Chicago-based chain and Peachtree Corners Council member Eric Christ were on hand to mark the opening.

"We are pleased to welcome ALDI to the community," Christ said. "Peachtree Corners continues to attract newvbusinesses and new jobs. We thank ALDI for choosing our city to locate their newest store."

The discount grocery chain, operates more than 1,600 stores in 35 states and has plans to open an additional 650 stores nationwide. Michael Aylor, ALDI’s district manager, said the company expects to open 10 new stores in in Georgia, North and South Carolina this year and will be remodeling 15 of its existing stores in those states.

The privately held, family-owned business was founded in Germany in 1946.
