Apartment Fire in Peachtree Corners Displaces Families
Five of the eight units on Peachtree Corners Circle sustained heavy damage Thursday night, fire officials said.
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA -- An apartment fire in Peachtree Corners Thursday night caused heavy damage to the builiding and displaced 11 adults and two children.
Fire officials say no injuries were reported in the blaze, which started some time around 8 p.m. at the 3500 block of Peachtree Corners Circle NW.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames showing from the second floor and attic of the two-story apartment building, with flames already breaking through the roof.

Residents already were evacuating the building when firefighters and police arrived, according to a news release.
The fire caused heavy damage to five units in the eight-unit building, according to officials. Firefighters initially had to fight the blaze from outside before they were able to enter the burning building.

Wind-driven flames were so intense they ultimately burned away the roof over part of the building.
Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire Friday morning.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the families displaced by the fire.
