Armed Robber Hits Peachtree Corners Bank
The Piedmont Bank was robbed at about 6:45 a.m., police say.

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA -- A Peachtree Corners bank was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday morning, according to police.
At about 6:45 a.m., an employee of Piedmont Bank, at 5100 Peachtree Pkwy., was forced into the bank at gunpoint as she was opening the door.
Once inside, the robber demanded she open the vault and not activate any of the bank's security alarms.

The employee told the robber that she didn't have the access codes to the vault. After tying her up and leaving her in a restroom, the robber took her purse, which contained her cell phone and cash, and left, police say.
The robber got into the back seat of a silver Jeep Liberty and fled without any of the bank's money.

Detectives later recovered what is believed to be the getaway vehicle at a nearby apartment complex. The Jeep was stolen in Atlanta, police said. It is being processed by CSI at Gwinnett County Police headquarters.
