Gwinnett Police Seeking Rape Suspect After SWAT Incident
Police mistakenly believed Ricardo Dopico was inside an apartment in Norcross.
Norcross, GA -- A rape suspect being sought by Gwinnett County Police turned out to not be inside a Norcross apartment where SWAT units were deployed Monday afternoon.
But police are still on the lookout for Ricardo Dopico, 40, who is wanted on charges of rape and false imprisonment.
Police say they received a call at about 8 a.m. Monday morning to the Sienna Heights Apartments, at 1355 Graves Rd. in Norcross.

There, they were met by the complainant, who told them Dopico, her boyfriend, had sexually assaulted her and held her there overnight against her will.
Detectives began investigating and obtained a search warrant for the apartment, where, according to a news release, there was “reason to believe” Dopico was still located.

Based on that belief, a SWAT team was deployed at about 1 p.m. Apartment buildings in the area were evacuated for safety.
After several hours, police realized that he was not inside. As of late Monday afternoon, they were continuing to scour the area looking for him.
Dopico is described as standing 5-foot-6 and weighing 160 pounds with black hair and a muscular build. He was last seen wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans.
