Cabbie Found Slumped Over Behind Wheel; Shot in Back of Head

GBI and Norcross PD are investigating late-night shooting death near Gwinnett apartment complex

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Norcross Police are investigating the shooting death of a taxi cab driver, who was found slumped over in his car in a Gwinnett County apartment complex.

Norcross Police said Afolabi Odifa, a driver for ATL Taxi, was found behind the wheel of his car sometime between 11 p.m. Friday and midnight at the Spring Lakes Apartments, 800 Chase Common Drive.

Responding to a call of a man passed out, Gwinnett County Fire & EMS determined the man was deceased, according to a press release.

β€œThe Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and found the man had been shot,” the release stated. The man had been shot in the back of the head.

β€œAt this time there are no suspects, however investigators are following up on numerous leads,” Norcross PD Capt. Bill Grogan said in an email.
