Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Celebrates Anniversary With Leadership Transition
A charity gala set for Oct. 14 will recognize retiring executive director Sally Bethea and introduce the organization's new leadership team.

Chattahoochee Riverkeeper next month will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a spectacular charity gala at the InterContinental Buckhead.
The affair, set for Tuesday, Oct. 14, also will serve to salute the organizationβs founding executive director and riverkeeper, Sally Bethea, and to formally introduce the new leadership team.

Following a reception and dinner, a retrospective program will highlight people, foundations and companies integral to CRKβs longtime success as a premier water advocacy organization. Founded in 1994 with a small but dedicated staff led by Bethea, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper now boasts more than 7,000 members.
βI am more honored than words can express to have served as the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper,β Bethea said. βIt seems like yesterday that we christened our first patrol boat and starting pulling trash out of the river. Even as I retire, I am excited to see what awaits CRKβs future as a champion of our vital water resources.β

Beginning in 2015, Juliet Cohen, who has served as general counsel for six years, will take the role of executive director. Jason Ulseth, CRKβs technical program director of seven years, will become riverkeeper.
Chattahoochee Riverkeeperβs mission is to protect and preserve the Chattahoochee River, its lakes and tributaries for the people, fish and wildlife that depend upon it.
