Community Resource Committee Holds First Meeting
Volunteers work to form a Community Resource Program to aid those seeking family or financial help.

Aug. 25, 2015 – In June the city of Peachtree Corners announced plans to form a Community Resource Program to aid those in the community seeking family or financial help and asked for volunteers to help organize the new program. Just two months later the newly formed Community Resource committee held its first meeting.
During its inaugural meeting, the 22-member committee formed two sub committees; the first will focus on identifying needs for Peachtree Corners by visiting a local church, school or community organization and the second will create a game plan for actions that need to be taken.
“We’re delighted that we will be able to offer this service to our community,” said Councilmember Jeanne Aulbach (Post 4). “This is a wonderful way to get involved, and we thank the volunteers who have stepped up to help launch this very important program.”

The program is designed to be a catalyst for providing resources for those in need serving as a clearinghouse for information and providing a point of contact. Ultimately the committee will develop a Community Resources Guide for Peachtree Corners which will identify community resources and contact information along with what each resource offers.
“The new committee has made a huge first step in developing this very important, and much needed program,” said Mayor Mike Mason. “We are proud that so many of our citizens are committed to helping those in need in our community.”
