Computer Ratings Say Norcross Will Win Football Title

If you listen to what a computer says about the Georgia High School AssociationΒ football playoffs, then Gwinnett County teams should come away with two championships after the finals are played next week.

Citing the Maxwell Ratings, the Georgia High School Football Daily newsletterΒ reports that Norcross (Class AAAAAA) and Buford (AAA) are the odds-on favorites to win titles in their respective classifications.

The ratings project Norcross to beat Lovejoy in the AAAAAA finalΒ andΒ Buford to beat St. Pius for the AAA championship.
Of course, both teams have to get past this weekβs semifinal opponents for a chance to win it all. Norcross hosts Colquitt County; Buford plays at Cartersville.

Gwinnettβs other semifinalist β Greater Atlanta Christian in Class AA β is projected to lose at Jefferson this week, according to the ratings.
The Maxwell Ratings are the work of Loren Maxwell, a co-founder of the Georgia High School Football Historian Association. Maxwell has been involved in sports ratings since 1986.
