Lake Lanier Drowning Victim Found, Identified

Jacob Thomas, 28, fell into the water and never resurfaced.

The Gainesville Times reported the body of Jacob Thomas of Atlanta was found Monday near Sunset Cove at Lake Lanier Islands.

Thomas had been missing since falling from a dock into the water around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Witnesses said he hit his head on a boat as he fell.

His body was found by a dive team near the cove in 48 feet of water, Hall County authorities said.

Search divers were in the water at Lake Lanier searching for a man who possibly drowned after falling off a dock early Sunday morning.

The Gainesville Times reported a 28-year-old man fell into the water and never resurfaced around 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Sunset Cove on the south end of the lake.

A Hall County dive team was searching an area about 50 feet deep, the newspaper said.
