Duluth Artist Kathy Andrews Fincher To Speak AT DAR Meeting
Kathy Andrews Fincher will receive Women in the Arts Award from the Philadelphia Winn Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

Kathy Andrews Fincher, a local Duluth artist, will be the featured Speaker at the October 19, 2014 meeting of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution Philadelphia Winn Chapter in Lawrenceville, GA. The meeting will be at Ashton Living located at 1155 Lawrenceville Highway in Lawrenceville at 2 p.m., where she will present for about half an hour. The Chapter will honor her with the prestigious Daughters of the American Revolution Women in the Arts Recognition Award.
While her subject matter is predominately that of children, widespread national recognition outside the arts community came with her work entitled “The Dream Keepers”. It is particularly extraordinary, because it was executed in the aftermath of the 9/11/2001 terrorists’ attacks. Fincher captured a positive side of our tragedy by depicting children happily painting a United States Flag as their means of healing and closure. This painting is further unique in that the original was formally presented to President George W. Bush in 2007, and it now hangs in his Presidential Library and Museum in Dallas, Texas.
Recipients of this award are female artists who are either affiliated with Daughters of the American Revolution or who are not, and who have contributed to their field in an outstanding manner beyond mastery of technique. The event is free.
