Career Fest expo set for July 19 in Gwinnett County
The Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Gwinnett Career Center and the Norcross Cooperative Ministries will co-sponsor their sixth annual Career Fest expo Thursday, July 19. The expo will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, located at 2500 Beaver Ruin Road in Norcross.
Career Fest will feature a number of employers, educational institutions, and resource agencies that provide assistance to job seekers. The employers will be hiring or discussing current and future employment opportunities, while other organizations will provide educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment.
The expo will also feature workshops and job-related seminars. Bob Roesch of Atlanta, a senior training consultant with the GDOL, will deliver two motivational speeches entitled, “For the Love of It,” at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
And, Ellen Sautter, a consultant for Right Management and co-author of Find a Job through Social Networking, will present a session on the use of social media in the job search. Also, Kristi Bochniak, a client relationship manager for Manpower, will offer a session highlighting job search techniques and how to work with recruiters.
Employers expected to participate in the expo include: A-One Staffing, Advantage Staffing, AFLAC, Aim Staffing, Allied Barton, Avon, Bobby Dodd Enterprises, Comcast, Credability, Crossroads Career Network, Elwood Staffing, Freight Handlers, Georgia Department of Driver Services, Genuine Parts Company, Gwinnett County Schools-Nutrition Department, Gwinnett County Police Department, Health Port Technologies, Hire Dynamics, House of Hawk Transportation, Impact Staffing, ITT Technical Institute, Labor Ready, Lund International, Meggitt Training System, Pawn Mart, Perimeter Staffing Solutions, Ricoh Electronics, Schneider National, Sheba Foods, Technical Resources Group, The Davis Companies, U.S. Army Reserve, UCall & IHaul, and United Parcel Service (UPS).
