Father, Daughter Charged with Murder in Death of 15-Month-Old Girl

Gwinnett Police say the death occurred Tuesday at the Extended Stay in Peachtree Corners.

A Gwinnett County police investigation into the suspicious death of a 15-month-old girl has resulted in murder charges for the father and one of his daughters.

In a bizarre twist, police say the man fathered two other children with the daughter. He also faces rape and incest charges.

Calvin Douglas McIntosh, 44, and Najlaa Mcintosh, 23, were both arrested after police were dispatched to Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11:23 p.m. at the request of Sandy Springs PD in regards to the death of Alcenti McIntosh.

The toddler had been taken to the hospital by Calvin McIntosh. Police said she was dead on arrival.

“Due to the physical appearance of Alcenti, it was quickly determined by medical personnel that this was most likely a case of neglect and abuse,” Gwinnett Police Cpl. Ed Ritter said in a news release.

The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner ruled starvation was the cause of death.

Police said the death occurred at the Extended Stay motel located at 7065 Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Peachtree Corners. There, investigators found Najlaa McIntosh and three other children, ages 5, 3 and 3, who police say were severely malnourished and in need of medical attention.

Also in the room was Iasia Sweeting, 21, who was in need of medical attention, too. She was wrapped in blankets and lying on the floor, and weighed only 59 pounds, police said.

“Investigators later learned that Calvin McIntosh fathered two children belonging to his biological daughter, Najlaa, and two children of Iasia, one of them being the deceased,” Ritter said.

Police said Calvin McIntosh ordered Najlaa to punish the children by withholding food when they misbehaved.

Ritter said investigators also found “literature and notes in reference to ritualistic behavior and the Nuwaubian Nation of Moors, an Islam based cult which is known for being a sovereign group.”

Ritter said the children are in DFACS custody, and Sweeting was hospitalized in serious condition.

Calvin and Najlaa McIntosh were both charged with felony murder, malice murder, first-degree cruelty to children (four counts each), second-degree cruelty to children and cruelty to a physically disabled adult.

Calvin McIntosh also faces charges of rape, incest and aggravated sodomy.

Both are being held without bond at the Gwinnett County jail.
