For the past nine years, Mission: AtlantaΒ has become a yearly tradition for many high schoolΒ and college age volunteers to give back in theΒ AtlantaΒ community.Β β€œIt is a great chance to give back,” says Preston Copeland, a YMCA volunteer.

Volunteers spent the week at a local Y and spent their nights with fellow volunteers.Β Β Every morning they left for their specific volunteer sites where they spent the day inviting kids from the neighborhood’s to come play, participate inΒ arts and crafts and enjoy lunches that the volunteers made for the kids. In the evenings the volunteer came together and had opportunities to meet new friends and reconnect with old friends from previous M:A’s with group dinners and events such as Braves games, Stone Mountain Park Laser Show and a huge scavenger hunt atΒ FowlerΒ Park.

β€œM:A is a blast and I love coming back every year to help out and also to meet new friends” says Fowler Y teen Jabri Hicks. Β M:A is an opportunity for teens to break away from their everyday lives and spend a week helping others. Β
