The man contacted Delta about the suspected fraud and was told the account would be disabled.

But on Feb. 28, the man received another email from Delta, this time about a flight from Reno, to Seattle, to Atlanta, to Jacksonville, according to the police report. He called Delta again and was told his account needed to be investigated before it could be disabled.

Police said the man did some of his own investigating.

He found the first flight was booked under his name, but the credit card attached to the account was expired, and the suspect could not pay for it. Instead, the man said the suspect used his skymiles to book the flights by calling Delta directly and posing as the victim.

The suspect apparently used a personal credit card to pay for taxes, the man told police.

The man said the last time he booked a flight with the account was two months ago and he doesn’t know how his personal information was compromised.
