Gas Prices Drop as End of Summer Nears

The national average for unleaded gas is currently $3.598 per gallon. This compared to the national average a week ago, at $3.673 per gallon, a 7.5 cent difference.

Experts predict a further drop in the cost per gallon as the end of the summer driving season nears. That fact, and the demand for oil was less than predicted could push the prices even lower.

This week, all competing for the lowest gas price (as of 12:01 a.m. August 15th) are:

$3.49 - QuikTrip, 3229 Peachtree Corners Circle

$3.49 - Shell, 6405 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard

$3.49 - RaceTrac, 5700 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard

$3.49 - QuikTrip, 5255 Peachtree Parkway

Followed by two more gas stations competing for the next lowest price:

$3.59 - Chevron, 6399 Spalding Drive

$3.59 - Chevron, 5345 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard

And the gas station with the highest price per gallon this week:

$3.65 - Texaco, 3425 Medlock Bridge Road.
