Georgia Sales Tax Holiday: DOT Has Good News for Shoppers
Expect a break on the highways along with your savings at the cash register.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has good news for those looking for a good buy this weekend.
The department said this week it is suspending lane closures during the Georgia Sales Tax Holiday Friday and Saturday.

The DOT said on Facebook there will be no construction-related closures within five miles of shopping areas on interstates and major state roads from 8 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday.
The Fall 2015 Sales Tax Holiday, beginning at 12:01 a.m. July 31 and running until midnight Aug. 1, is an annual chance for parents and students to get a break at the cash register for certain school-related purchases. Consumers can make qualifying purchases without paying sales tax, according to the Georgia Department of Revenue.
